Got a rocker on a 289 thats not oiling.I took the pushrod out and blew through it and its clean.The lifter isn't hammering so it must be pumped up.I'm guessing the lifter must be plugged up or shot?It must have been doing this for a while because the valve tip and the rail type rocker arm are worn really bad. This is a 66 289 that I bought to put in in my sisters 66 coupe.I guess its gonna need a valve job and some roller tipped rockers.

Good guess,

Try changing the lifter.
