I run an open 2" spacer I ported to match that goofy shaped plenum.

You ported the 2" spacer to match the intake ? did you have to do much to the runners to get them to mate up with the heads ? Boy I can't wait to try this new motor. It may still be a while if the headers from my boss 302 don't fit they cross under the oil pan with 4 & 8 an with the diff deck hight they may not fit. RATS

The carb mountng flange is designed so a spread bore carb will also fit. So it's not square feeding into the plenum. When you get yours you will see what I mean. I tapered the bottom of the inside of the spacer to better match the plenum design. It seems to work well. What I did to the intake itself was clean up the runners, raised the port entry in the plenum on the center runners, and I did gasket match the ports themselves. Since my heads were already ported (gasket matched and blended halfway down the port) it didn't require any work to match them to the intake.

I think it will, but not with the 2" spacer. Don't hold me to that though as my hood is fiberglass and I'm pretty sure it is thinner than a factory steel hood.

The strip dominator with a holley and a 1" spacer is very close on mine with a 14 x 3" moroso drop base air cleaner. Without the spacer, it would certainly clear.

Hey Kid, did you do any before and after runs to see how much it helped ET or MPH. I've been told I should knock off the corners of the roof of the ports just under the carb, I asume this is what you ment you did on the center runners. How come only on the center runners? I am running my Strip Dominater as cast, mainly cause I'm afraid of screwing it up and slowing the car down, but I'm all ears if you've seen improvement. Thanks! Roger

I didn't do any before and after comparisons, so I guess there is a possibility I might have screwed it up. When I got it, it was "as cast" and the runners were so dirty with casting flash I couldn't stand the thought of running it that way. The first couple of years, I ran it with the runners just cleaned up. I then did a lot more work on it (several hours worth), and it did seem to help. I raised the center runners to try and make them a little longer, but I can;t say if it really worked or not. It was just something I picked up in a magazine that did a "how to" article written by the main man at Wilson Manifolds.
