I have a solid roller in the Fastback's 342 (5.0) based engine. Currently, the MSD dist has the requisite MSD bronze gear; and I'm concerned about the durability of the dist gear after hearing they may only last for 2K miles of street driving. I called Comp Cams and thay have a "composite" (polymer?) gear that eliminates the fast wearing bronze gears in applications where bronze gears are required (like my solid roller cam). Unfortunately, they only make the Ford gear for the .530 dist shaft (351??); and (of course)my 302 MSD dist has the .466 shaft. Now for the machinist's question.. would it be possible to have the .531 (ID) composite gear bushed down to .467 (ID)? Maybe we could lobby Comp Cams to make one for the .466 shaft (yea right!). ------------------ Bernie Frank 66 Fastback restomod project 85 GT (preserved) 82 GT (original)

Yes it is very possible. You would need to find some bronze or aluminum stock that fits very tightly in the gear hole. Press it in, then drill your new hole dead center and finish it off by drilling the dowel hole. No big thing. All in a days work.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Sounds like you need FRP M-12390-B. Check your FRP catalog.------------------ I am looking for information concerning factory performance/speed parts used on the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) Engine Series (383-410-430-462) from 1958 thru 1968.

Isn't that what he needs on a steel roller cam? It is not available for service from FORD P&A. quote: By the way Kultulz, a found an old book belongin to my brother that you may be interested in seeing. New performance products for 1960 from Hot Rod.

He wants to use a composite gear, not a steel or bronze one. That's what I got out of the post anyway. The book covers all the new performance offereings from the factory and aftermarket for 1960. All three makes, V-8 and six cylinders. Yes I can scan the FoMoCo only stuff. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
