If a set of heads has a set of springs that are rated to 550 lift, Does that mean no matter what type of cam such as hydrolic roller or flat tappet they will work okay (as long as the lift is no more than 550) ? It SEEMS like I remember hearing that hydrolic roller cams need stronger springs than a flat tappet cam with the exact same lift. Im in the market for some different heads for my 302,it seems that one of mine is cracked. ------------------ http://maverickgrabber.iwarp.com

It means that they will not coil bind up to .550 lift. It has nothing to do with the seat pressure. Yes, roller cams need a lot more seat pressure.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." I would call the help line for Comp (or others...Crane may acually make the cam for Ford) tell them what cam you have get reccomendations. Correct valve springs are very important.
