my 69 cougar used to be a 3 speed manual but was converted to a C4, i am about to order my torque converter and i dont know what year my C4 is so i dont know what the input shaft spline is and i dont know the flywheel bolt pattern.

is their an easy way to figure this out?

please let me know thanks a lot.

NOt without taking it out.
Best I can do it give you a base year it there is still a tag on it with the usage codes.
But...that is not a guarantee as it may have been rebuilt and the pumps will interchange.
Best bet is to remove it.

i found a code that was on the trans toward the end where the drive shaft is mated to the trans.

this is the code in the way its written on the trans:

67 ford 3
C70p7H040-A

does this code reveal anything?

NO! It would be on a tag and begin with a "P".
You are wasting your time!
The only way to get the correct converter from your chosen supplier is to pull the trans and identify the front pump splines and flex plate pattern.
