I am wondering ,can this be done to ANY 9" rear , (I heard 28 spliners cannot be shortened)I put one on my 68 cougar & it was from some unknown car(guy I bought it from thought it was from a 68 cougar, obviously he was wrong), had to narrow the pirches & the whole thing is about 3" wider & it looks a little funny. Welcome to M&M ! You can narrow ANY 9 inch FoMoCo housing. The axle spline has nothing to do with the housing width. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Are only the 28 spline axles tapered?
