I am just getting my 289 rebuilt and I am installing a C-4 tranny and I am getting alot of different answers about stall converters the cam I am using is 498 with a duration 278 (hope I am reading the card correctly) The place I am getting the motor built at says that he uses a company in the US the name is Cone I think that is the way you spell it. Has anyone had any converters built by this company.Any input on this subject would be great help because I only want to do this once! the motor should have about 250 rwhp and I am driving it on the street but mostly driving on the track. Thank you in advance

The thing to do is gather info such as your cam card, engine specs, rear gear ratio, driving style such as street/strip or strip only, etc and call some of the convertor companies such as Coan, TCI, JW, etc, and ask them what they reccomend. We can suggest to you all day long but what we suggest might not even be close to what you really need. Then, if you buy what we suggest, you might be very po'd and then take offense to that person(s). ------------------ Larry No fast Fords at this time but one fine cruising 96 F350 CC DRW Power Strokin diesel. The name is Coan. They make great converters but they're not cheap! You get what you pay for in a convertor. I would shoot for around 3000. Brian------------------ 351c 4v clsd heads 60'1.619 1/8 [email protected] 1/4 [email protected]

I second that. After wasting my money on 2 different TCI units that stalled at a little over half of what they were supposed to I finally broke down and spent the cash for a good unit. You will be tempted not to because a good converter is literally twice as expensive as a big named catalog one but in hind sight the 2 pieces of junk plus my time for changing them out far exceeded the cost of doing it right the first time. I am installing my new dynamic racing C4 and TCT $800 converter this weekend and will let ya know how it turns out

For my converter, I am using an ATI 8" treemaster and have had great success with it! The next converter I buy for a c-4 will be a JPT, others make good stuff but JPT seems to be the leader on C4's...
