We will be removing the door protection beams on our drag only 85 stang. I seem to remember an article someone wrote on this process. Does anyone have that information or a link to that project?

If not, are there any pitfalls we need to watch for during the removal?

Appreciate any help.

I cut the door bars out on my 85 and it's a job if you can't get to the front with a torch, You will need to remove the window, window crank and window motor if you have power windows, You will need to cut the bar in at least 3 different places just to get the pieces out of the door, I used a cut off wheel and cut as far as i could to the front...I probably left about an inch on the front and rear, I also weighed everything and
the door bars are 15 pounds each, The windows were 11 pounds each, I lost a total of nearly 70 pounds out of both doors, I also had power window so that was some extra weight plus i was going to replaced the windows with lexan.
