Hi. I have a Mustang that I'm getting back into shape for street/strip action after an extended (about 15 years)storage in my garage. I got the bug again to work on my car. Looks like there are some new things like Caltracs/CE equivalent. I kind of feel like I just parachuted in from a timewarp :-).I'm have the springs and rear end out and was thinking of getting Caltracs. Calvert's shop is only about 10 minutes from my house! Do you guys see any advantage of getting the CE version instead? I saw some really old videos of my car running at the local strip and the front end rises a lot and the rear end really squats. Is the rear end supposed to rise instead? I was using slapper bars with 9 inch M+H slicks before. What effect would Caltracs have on this? The car has a 428, 3500 stall, and 3.91 gears. I have some old time slips and the car used to run mid/high 11's with a little N2O and low 12's without. The 60 ft times were 1.8 or so. I know how Rip van Winkle felt. I guess there are even a lot of Hondas at the strip!!! Thanks for any help.

welcome to m&m. i have really learned a lot here myself. just make sure that the front end is staying up. before i put the 90/10 front shocks on mine it would squat, hook and then the front would drop and it would unhook and start spinning. good luck------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://prestage.com/site/site_display.asp?SiteID=141

Welcome, sounds like you've got a sweet car. Most cars with slapper bars raise the rear end on launch, its wierd that your car didn't do that.Your right though with all the new technology you need to be going forward, not wasting time going up. Thanks for all the info and encouragement. I guess I'll go and pick up a set of Caltracs. I'll go to my brother's house this weekend and get my center section back together. We just put a Detroit locker in his 66 Fairlane a few weeks ago to replace his TL and also put in a 8 inch converter. In the videos his car with slapper bars didn't squat. His car was quicker than mine was. I think you're right. It is kind of strange my car wouldn't lift in the back with the slappers. So it's OK for the rear of the car to go down at launch? He got the bug back too so we're working on both cars at the same time. I wonder if I'll get a deal if I buy two sets of Caltracs at the same time? I switched to a mild cam before I quit messing around with my car and never ran it. I got wimpy and wanted to use my power brakes. It's a hydraulic Crower with 224 int., 232 exh duration at .050 and 108 lobe separation. I wonder how much it will slow my car down? I used to run the 244/250 Crower hydraulic which was a lot of fun with a nice smooth idle. LOL. Reading the old posts, Glen67 has a nice and quick street car. I saw the clip of his car and the 66 Mustang on the FE Forum. How is his 428 set up? Steve66, is your daughter's car a street car? That car must amaze a lot of people. Well, I better quit blabbering. Just forgot how much fun it is to work on these cars. One more thing, what safety harness do you guys recommend for use with the stock Mach 1 seats and a 6 point bar? Thanks again for the warm welcome.
