 | posted 02-21-2003 03:28 AM What is going on guys. I had a great day today on the mountain. Finally went boarding and hopefully got my loan. If I do I am ordering my engine next week and will finally get my car finished.
I am going with a 331 for performance and reliability. I will drive my car to the club or cruising 4 times a week at the most. It is not a daily driver and it will be in storage when I am not using it, so extreme weather should not be much of an issue. I will NEVER drive the car in the rain, much less the snow. What would you guys go with as far as cam and heads? I want to be as wild as possible while having manners, and I am not sure how to go about that. I want to be able to accelerate faster than most cars on the road. Thanks, here is what I have on the car now. 65 Coupe Viper RedStandard Black int

either way a 331 sounds good. the 270H cam from competition cams is a favorite around here, has a slight lope to it but still well mannered. If you want reliability the consensus also seems to be Iron heads, like GT40's or World products. You didnt mention exhaust but the cam I mentioned really likes headers.
with that engine making good torque you will need a stout clutch. sounds like a sweet car. IP: Logged |

You say you drive it 4 days a week? That's pretty frequent. I put a 270S in my stroker (click on my sig for more info), but I only drive mine on weekends. If you don't mind the maintanence, go with a mechanical lift camshaft. If you'd rather not deal with it, than a juicer 'stick may be a better for (almost) a daily driver. Do a search on cast iron vs. aluminum; there's been a few really good threads lately on the topic. Like Phil said, iron heads are more tolerant. I also agree that you'll need some GOOD headers and a free flowing 2 1/2" exhaust system to let that monster breathe. ------------------1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9"

Thumper, I will drive the car 4 times a week at the most if I have days off to go to the club and cruise and stuff. I am probably going with a combo like yours. IP: Logged |
