Every time I ask this question I get 50 differnt answers, but here it goes any way.For D0VE and D1VE 460 cid blocks, how far can you safely bore out the cylnders? All my life I have bought only vergin blocks but somone gave me a free D0VE block. It already has been bored out .030". Has anybody ran into any problems going more than .030"?

Welcome to M&M ! We have bored them to .100 over several times. Sterling even makes an inexpensive .100 over cast piston for the 429.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Great! Thanks for the info. If I don't sell this block in a job, I plan to use it for a 1/2 filled 554 next season.

The D0VE-A and the D1VE-AA were the basis for the CJ/SCJ engines. They came in 2 bolt and 4 bolt configurations and had the thick main webs. You can add 4 bolt main caps from Milodon or Program without any problems (they are splayed verses the stock outer bolts being straight into the web). They can generally be bored .080" over without a sonic map and some will go to 4.500" with sonic map. On my D0VE-A, I just went .030 over this time. On the 557 I built a few years back, I used a 4.440" bore and a 4.500" stroke. Nice runnig motor with the BT-B's on it. ------------------ Larry No fast Fords at this time but one fine cruising 96 F350 CC DRW Power Strokin diesel.
