I heard or read somewhere that a '97 ford explorer complete rear axle with disk brakes and 3.55 locking gears, would bolt up to a '67 mustang. Is this true? If so, what, if any, modifications would be neccessary? And what other years would fit, and did all of them come with those gears? I know thats a lot of questions, but i basically wanna know if it would work. Thanks

I thought about this conversion into my Failane but was not wild about c clip axles. I know you can buy c clip eliminators for the 8.8 but decided to skip it.B-loose

quote: :Originally off of http://1trick.stangnet.com/faq/8.8rear.html The main changes that will need to be made are as follows. They shouldn't be too expensive or difficult: * Move the spring pads to the correct location. * Adapt the driveshaft to the flange style yoke. * Adapt the brake lines and parking brake cables.
I imagine I could figure out how to move the spring pads and adapt the brake lines...but I know jack sh*t about flange style yokes. How could I adapt the driveshaft to the flange style yoke? I want to be able to put the old axle in for long street trips, so if I didn't have to permanently change my driveshaft, that would be nice.
