I have an 66 Coupe 'A Code' with Tri Y's 650cfm Holley 4v, eletric ignition, and i was wondering what kind of cam my car can handle. i want more power, and i want a nice lope sound with the power to back up the dual 2chamber dumped flows. Just wondering what would give me a nice boost, and if i would need anything else besides the CAM itself. (springs, or anything else period)thanks. good looking out. laytro ------------------ Alan 1966 Tahoe Turquoise A-Code Coupe 650cfm Holley 4bbl / petronix ignition / missing valance / white vynol top

What the H#ll is "Laytro"? The Comp 268 should be fine. I used to like the old "OHO" cam from ford that was Available from Valley Ford Parts for a mild 289. I think it was 224 @ .050, .480 lift and had a 114LDA. I'm sure everybody makes a better grind now though...

New parts: Cam, lifters, appropriate valvesprings. You'll need adjustable rockers like SteveW said... '66 289 heads should have stud mount adjustable rocker arms so you're ok there. Comp does not recommend running stamped rockers, so roller rockers may be in order as well. You do not need to change cam bearings ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 01-18-2003).]

If you want that nice lope to your 289, go with the 270 cam. You won't be sorry that you did. Dave & Terri ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback '02 Explorer XLT I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it! We have enough youth, how about a fountain of smart?
