Would like to know how other race tracks run their street class. Me, Ron(smblk-tbolt) and a couple other guys are getting together to brainstorm how we are going to run the street class at the Port Alberni drags this year.Any input would be grateful. We run with the same rules. What formats do they run for eliminations? Roger ------------------ 65 comet project 84 T-bird 302/C4 14sec street/strip Made in CANADA built for speed #1145

Most all the drag strips in the Midwest run their street class as part of the bracket race series. The entrants get 2-3 passes for time trials and then its random pairings for eliminations. Some tracks will announce who has the possible bye run before the first round of eliminations...some tracks set up a ladder for the final 8 or less cars.------------------ Dale Tuley Chaplain, Racers For Chris

Thanks Dale, but another question that has come up is should we allow street cars to open their headers? Last year street cars had to run mufflers and dot tires. Roger------------------ 65 comet project 84 T-bird 302/C4 14sec street/strip Made in CANADA built for speed #1145

I agree with Alex - Street means registered car, full exhaust and DOT tires. Pretty good when the street cars show up on trailers but won't run the brackets with us This is what our track does for its "Fastest Street Car Shootout". 5 Classes of Heads-Up Racing All Street legal vehicles Welcome Street Equipment Required: - Vehicles must resemble street cars inside and out -Head lights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers -Vehicle must have current insurance that matches car's VIN number -No D or R plates -Cars must have exhaust and working mufflers; can exit in front of rear tires or dump at rear axle -Vehicles must be able to start and stage without assistance $45.00 for Car and Driver/ $12.00 for Spectators "Pro Street"
Anything goes on DOT tires! Back halved, tube cars Any power adder (i.e. Alcohol, N20, Blower, Turbo) Must resemble street car! "Wild Street"
Limited to 12.50" DOT tires as indicated on side of tire Anything else goes! "Radial Tire"
Any size DOT radial tire Anything else goes! "Real Street"
No power adder No roll bars (i.e., 12.00 & slower) Limited to 12.50" DOT tires as indicated on side of tire "Hyper Street" Anything goes with 4 & 6 cyl All racers will be allowed 3 qualifying passes in the morning and a ladder will be determined from your best E.T. ( 1 vs 8 ,2 vs 9, etc...) ------------------ Fred 68 Mustang 500CID/Powerglide - "No Tubs" 86 Mustang GT Cobra

Street class in MS. is No electronics and slower than 7.50 in the 1/8th. Anything else goes. 7.50 and faster are in the no electronics class. Super Pro is no time limit but you can run electronics. ------------------ Jerry 69 Mustang Pro ET Drag 70 Mustang retired former footbrake car "This is FORD Country! Thanks for the input guys. We had 2 other classes last year for full tilt drag cars, and this year we hope to expand our street class. Roger

Roger - Poll your racers on open exhaust, but... as for me, I would still run mufflers if open exhaust is allowed. 1. Its less work for me at the track. 2. Its quieter for the neighbors. 3. On most street cars you aren't going to get appreciable gains unless the exhaust system is really restrictive. 4. I like to sneak up on my oppenents anyway. Dale
