Still looking at my options on what to put into my mustang.Just wondering if a 351 windsor will fit into my 66 mustang and will tri-y bolt onto the windsor? Or would I be better of rebuilding my 289 and put windsor heads on it?

The 351W will fit into your 66 easily. You will need a set of swap headers which are readily available. If you watch the classic forum regularly, you will see that lots of us have 351W's in our 65-66's. Also the guys on this site can answer just about any question you need answered.

They fit like a glove, here's a pic of a stroked 351w in a '66.

Thanks for the picture looks nice. What type of headers are on that engine? I have a brand new set of tri-y's that I was hoping to use.

Don't let a set of headers keep you from doing the right thing.
A larger motor will always make more power and torque than a smaller motor given a similiar level of modification.
In fact there is almost no reason not to bould a 393 stroker.

The headers are Hooker SuperComps, but when we had a 351w (non-stroker) in it we just ran cheapo Heddman headers.

Steve, are those Super Comp headers a straight fit, or were mods in order? Are they a Super Comp swap header? I have never heard of that.

What is the intake? I can't really tell.

Basically, I was going to put a 351W into my 65, but decided not to because I can't use a Vic jr intake (stock hood) or full length headers.

I have heard that a dual plane edel. per RPM intake really kills the power on a 351W stroker.

I am just curious. I still think I am going with a slightly wild 302 stroker, but not totally decided.

His looks like a Victor Jr. but the 351W Torker II is also a good intake, and provides plenty of hood clearance.

Go to www.edelbrock.com to check out all the specs on the intakes, including heights.

A stroked 351W with a torker II will make WAY more power than a 331 or 347 with a Victor Jr.

Good Luck!

Yes, (answering for Steve) the 6208 Hooker Supercomps are a straight bolt in fit. Like any header installation on a uni-body car, depending on how good the years have been to it you will have to make a ding here and a bang there.
