How much maintenance do they need? Is it just a break in thing or every thousand mile thing? Can a dummy like me do it?

your not a dummy, at least you have a FORD. and yes you can do it. They don't require much maintenance. You just need to check the lash periodically. I've never had a solid lift cam on a street car so someone will have to tell you how many miles between checks. I always checked mine in my race car after about 20-25 passes.

With good rockers and locks, not bad at all. Initial break in and every few hundred miles (500 or so) for the first 1000-1500 while everything seats in, then they'll stay put for 2000-3000
