I'll try and muddle my way thru this best I can. The Honda rod journal is a lot smaller than even the smnall journal chevy so, the NASCAR guys started swtching to them several years ago to reduce friction and free up some more HP. The smaller jourtnal helps make the crank a touch lighter, and the smaller diameter bearings decrease bearing speed which is where the the gain from friction accures. Remember to the NASCAR guys, 5 more HP is alot.

They are not what most people think of when you say Honda, they are from the Formula One (I think) and CART series of Honda motors originally. Now all the top rod manufacturers make them in all popular lengths for most apllications.
