For relocation in the trunk in a ragtop. Do I need a poly box or can I fab my own bracket? I will be using an external on/off switch. Also the spare tire is mounted on the pass side, so is there an ideal battery and spare placement for traction? I have absolutely NO traction (2.3 60') so I had better get to work and do things properly.

Dave,

You can fab your own brackets, but you need to seal off the passenger compartment from the trunk. Otherwise you'll need a box that is vented to the outside for the battery. Also you'll need a min of two 3/8" dia bolts (not j-bolts) holding the battery to the trunk floor. Just seal off the rear seat and package tray with aluminum and bolt the battery down om the passenger side.
