I was thinking of changing my 11''2500 stall converter to a 10''3000 stall on my 408W mach1,since i have 380ft lb's of torque @3100 rpm's wouldnt it make sense to do that,i would rather have good torque off the line and good midrange then open up my motor and make more HP, its torque thats gets the car moving isnt it. for street car that would be a killer, light to light, not that i would race on the street but down the 1\4 mile would be good, long with good set of gears, running 3.50 posi now, thinking of 3.73's, and good traction bars, drag radials, think im going in the right direction with this? my engine is running real good now after the dyno runs last fall, maybe this will keep my happy for a while.any comments.

I think you know my opinion, but yes on the 3000 stall and no on the gears. Stay with the 3.50s until you step up with a bigger bumpstick. Let the current low end torque work with the higher (3.50) gears and the higher stall converter will multiply the low end torque even more. Of course I'd like to see a bigger cam and the 3.70 or better yet 3.89 gears for your next step. SteveW [This message has been edited by steve'66 (edited 12-26-2002).]
