Eddyville will not be on our schedule this year. In their infinate wisdon IHRA has placed the division 5 opener the same weekend as the NHRA division 3 opener at Joliet. Let's see now.....where should I go????A beautiful 1/8th mile facility 270 miles away somewhere in Iowa where the track manager is an a$$hole who hates the IHRA Pro Am racers and can't get 10 people in the stands???? Where the track manager insists on charging you for an extra crew pass even if you pay for two car entries? Where the mega rich owner hasn't attended a Pro Am event in the 3 years it has been held? Or.......the most state of the art 1/4 mile drag strip track in the country, that is 30 miles from my home where I can sleep in my own bed? Where the track crew loves us and goes out of their way to insure that we have good parking and a great race facility? Hmmmmm, good pork tenderloin sandwiches or good racing??? Beth can make me good tenderloins so screw Eddyville!
Joliet's Rt.66 is where we'll be. If I don't go NMRA racing which is a distinct possibility as both the NHRA and IHRA policies for 2003 unfold. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." It's too bad Gary treats the Pro Am racers that way, the regulars that show up every week all really like him. If he displayed the same attitude towards the Pro Am folks, I'm sure they would all like raicng there as well. But, since I know Gary a little bit, I know that's not going to happen. Neither is getting Carl to ever attend another race at his track. When I first started racing thre, Carl would show up occassionaly just to watch and see how things were being run, but lately, the only time he showed up was to match race his pro mod (and he no longer owns it).

It is too bad that Gary has such an unfavorable reputation with the IHRA racers. The local racers are very loyal to him and he may be one of the best track preppers around. Eddyville has a couple of problems when it comes to getting spectators. First is the remote location. The closest large city is DesMoines and that is 75 miles away. Second is Knoxville. Lets see, the birthplace of Sprint cars is 30 miles away. So who's gonna draw the crowds? Eddyville does draw a pretty good crowd for the 4th of July show. They advertise that pretty well, but not early enough in my opinion. Thats one thing Scott Gardner does well. He advertises big events at least 3 weeks in advance. I don't blame Alex one bit for going to Joliet. Its right in his back yard. I just can't figure out why the Pro-Am at Eddyville is so early. I was planning on getting some seat time that week-end. I'm so bummed with the whole schedule thing. It seems that Bill Bader is throwing down the gauntlet. "CHOOSE - NHRA or US! We won't let you do both." I really liked Eddyville too. I don't understand that either. The bit on the IHRA web page said they were waiting for the NHRA schedule to come out so they could avoid conflicts and not put any undue hardships on thier racers or track operators. Huh? After thinking about it and consulting with KV, I think I'll try to make license passes the week before that and get my Hot Rod license that week-end. If that works out, the week-end won't be a total waste. Maybe I'll run some bracket too. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'

Latest rumor (more than that) is that the Eddyville date will be changed. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." You heard it hear first. Eddyville had been moved to May 17-18 as to not conflict with Joliet. (like anyone would have chosen Eddyville and Mr. Personality over Rt.66 anyway) ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
