Well, I have never actually had any experiance with a tunnelram, let alone one with a single top, but I did used to race with a fellow that had one. It ran like crap for what he had. I really think the plenum size is so large that a single carb would have trouble keeping it filled. I have a Weiand tunnelram with dual tops I bought several years ago at a swap meet, and have never used it. It seems unless you have a killer motor, more than I have ever built, they are not as effective as a strip dominator.

It will require a very large carb. 850 CFM minimum. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Running a 850 Mighty Demon. Will try the Single plane Wieand. Then will switch to the tunnelram to see the difference in track times. Car is in storage until spring. Average temp this week - 24 degrees daytime 5 above at night. Car can wait.

what model number is your tunnel ram? I guess weiand made a Part # 1992 and a newer one which is part #1994. Do you know what RPM range the 1992 intake range is. They list the 1994 at 3200-9000 rpm. They do not have a listing for the 1992.

Just got a email back from holley. They found the intake in a 1974 catalog. The RPM range is 3000-8000rpm. Thats a little more useable rpm range then the other intake they now sell. Here is the emails from holley:Hello, I did find that intake in a 74' catalog. It originally came with a 2X4 top plate. I do not recommend using a single carb on a tunnel ram. A single carb usually does not flow enough to feed the engine with that much plenum volume. A Cleveland engine can move a lot of air due to the large intake ports on the heads. You can try it, but it will perform a lot better running 2 carbs. Thanks, Michael Here is the Second one: Ok I found it is was a dual quad for the 351, now from what I show this had a different style top than the current models and I do not have even the gaskets for this set up anymore. From what I can tell this had a 3000-8000 rpm power band and was set up for the 660-750cfm carbs. They also told me this intake has not been made for 20 years. Maybe its another wonder like the Holley strip dominator? (yea right) Who knows? My own intake only has the single top and the whole thing is chrome. I will try it this summer and let everyone know how it compares to my X-celerator single plane. You might want to try the intake on your car Kid now that we know what the RPM range of this intake is. Something to think about after you get done testing your car out with the new transmission. I will keep you guys posted when I get the car out next year.
