I have a new enclosed trailer on order. I checked with my insurance company (largest insurance company in the state) this week and it would only be covered for liability under any of my vehicle policies. No collision or comp coverage. What companies specialize in this sort of coverage? I would like a stand alone policy with good service at a reasonable price. What is the going rate for a policy like this? I would also like to look at off-track coverage for my dragster. Fire, theft, when towed inside the trailer. Later, David Cole

I have and always have had State Farm covering my trailers. Covers trailer and contents including liability and comprehensive. Very reasonable. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." I have mine insured by my auto carrier, Farm Bureau. Its got full coverage, which the bank insisted on of course, but now that its paid for so I've kept it covered. About $100 a year as I recall.I've thought about seeing if they would add contents to the coverage also, but haven't asked them. I don't know how many states Farm Bureau covers. Its an Iowa based copmpany so it may just be regional. Thier rates are good, even when you add the $35 a year membership fee.

I Have Farm Bureau as well. They are in Tx and Ky too. They had much better rates. They made me walk from 12 yrs with State farm. My trailer has full coverage w/o contents. Like DV said. about $100 a yr.

Wow. If you left State Farm after 12 years, I better look into it. I don't know if Farm Bereau is in Okla or not, but with the recent increase from State Farm I will be checking. I have been with State Farm for 30 years. Auto, home and life. I have compared with other companies many times in the past, but none can't beat them. Thanks for the tip. I will look into Farm Bereau.

Thanks for the input guys. Right now I have ALFA insurance. They are the largest insurer in Alabama. They used to be part of Farm Bureau, but split off on their own 12-13 years ago. I tried to get them to add coverage for a trailer, but they wouldn't for any trailer used more than 5 times per year.State Farm made me mad (long story) about 12 years ago and I switched to ALFA. I will check with them, but I don't know if they can match the price I get now due to my current policies having multiple discounts. Homeowner, multi-car, long term coverage and accident free. Those discounts total 25%. Jerry, I will call those specialty companies for the info, Thanks Later David Cole

Hey Dave, Please let the rest of us know what you end up finding out and what you settle for.....Although I don't have nearly as much $$ at stake as you will, I'd also feel better with better/more coverage on my racecar/trailer/tools etc. Thanks! Ryan P.S. Is your old '69 still in your area or did it go far away? Was the buyer going to continue to race it or do something else (put it back on the street?) with it? That sure was a pretty racecar!

I've been checking on the insurance. I found a couple of companies that would insure the car and trailer on a stand alone policy. Way too $$$. Checked with State Farm and they will cover the trailer for only an extra $72 per year. But that's if I insure my truck there also, and their coverage on my F-350 is $450/yr more than what I have now due to all my various discounts. I did find acompany that will cover just the race car that I'm interested in. $25K agreed value, no deductable. Covers the car at home, when towing, right up until I pull it off the trailer at the track. $250 per year. They also do collector cars and hot rods. Their website: http://www.parishheacock.com/ The 69 is gone. Doubt I'll see it again. I live in Alabama. The buyer came from central Missouri. His plans were to race it for a litle while as is and then "front half" it with either a Must II or strut setup and then in install a BBF. Later, David Cole

Dave, Thanks for the insurance info update!Maybe it's a good thing that your '69 went 'far away'..... Call me weird but, whenever I sell a vehicle (regardless of condition), I hate to think I may be faced with having to see it later in worse shape then when I sold it. It's just plain painful for me to find out the new owner is/has abused it or crashed it. Later,,, Ryan
