I dont plan on taking this engine past 7000, should make power in the 500 range and I would also like to add some nitrous. Also who makes a good US made forged 11:1 piston the can be used with CJ intake and exhaust valves? Thanks

I've been told the standard rod is reliable to 400hp and 5000rpm. The late-model truck rod is considerably stronger (like the cobra jet rods) and properly prepped can handle 600hp and 7000rpm. I'm sure lots of people have gotten away with more, but that seems to be about the standard talk with these motors.------------------ 1968 Mustang,Clevor,C4 1969 Torino 351C 4spd 1978 F150 460 C6 1978 F150 351W C6

Welcome to M&M mr. Eyes ! I like the Crower rods if you can afford them. I wouldn't consider anything else if you plan on using No2. If not the CJ/Truck rod with good bolts and proper sizing works well upi to 500 HP. TRW makes an acceptable replacement CJ piston that should fill your order. On The heavy side, but otherwise you get into expensive custom stuff. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Welcome to M&M SNAKE EYES. I run a set of OLIVER rods in my 514, but I've heard alot of good stuff about CROWER rods. I know some folks that swear by the Lunati Pro Mod rods but I'm not sure they make them in the stock 460 length. Mine are 6.8 length. I found these pistons at jeggs with a quick search.
