Hey guys,I building a 302 for my 66 and i wanted to put a comp cams (magnum 280H) 224 duration 512/512 cam but was worried about clearance, i would check it before runnig it but should it clear? I have silvo-lite flat top pistons with 66 small chamber heads(54cc) with stock valves. What i really is a comp cams extreme energy 268 duration (218 @.50?) which was 509/512 lift, OR possibly a extreme energy 274 cam (224 @ 50?) 519/523 lift. I want the etreme energy series if those numbers would clear. Thanks for the imput, this was asimular post of mine from th oterforum but with all the exact numbers, THanks ---Anthony ------------------ Under Construction 66 Coupe 289 V8 - 600cfm Holley - Tri-Y Headers - Flowmaster 2.5 dual exaust - Centerforce Dual Friction

Any of the choices you have selected will clear stock style pistons with room to spare. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Out of those cams listed, I like the biggest one. Since it's a stick shift, I would go with something even bigger. About [email protected] duration and about .520 lift. Those tight chambered heads can handle more cam than you think. Then put in a 3.50-3.70 rear gear and you're good to go. ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank and girdle, 5.4 H-beams, Forged slugs, ported TFS alum. heads, ported Stealth 8020 intake, CompCams Xtreme Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi, BFG Drag radials..

Thanks guys,The cam was the only thing holding me from finishing the motor, since i couldnt do the heads w/o the right springs i needed to see what i was gonna get. I most likly will get the 274 cam, i will consider a bigger one though, i have had other guys recomend a 280-290 duration cam as well.
