Alex,A few months ago I posted a question about a C-6 race trans that uses a clutch instead of a torque converter. You told me who built it but I cannot find the post. Also, Where can ..or should I get the parts for it. I need Bell housing, Clutch fork, and the clutch assembly. I am not too familiar with the clutch setup needed for this to be in a race car so any help would be appreciated. It is going behind a in progress 351C stroker.

They were built by several companies. At one time all of the majors offered clutch automatic kits/transmissions for C-6, TH-400 and TF. B&M, Art Carr, HydroMotive, Hydro Bob, Winters and Fairbanks. To the best of my knowledge the only one still offering kits/transmissions is Fairbanks. I do not know if they offer the C-6 kit at all. The only one that I know of for certain is the TH-400. I hope this helps. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." All of them used a common Mopar 23 spline input shaft. Bob is correct, you use the scatter shield for the engine. (I just happen to have one for a clutch turbo on teh classifieds ) You can use a FoMoCo fork, but you need a special clutch turbo cage and t/o bearing. Any good adjustable pressure plate will do and the Mopar spline disc of your choice. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Thanks Guys. Alex, let me clarify. You have a scatter shield that will work for my application? Also, I spoke to Fairbanks. They will be releasing this trans again within the next several months. He stated there had been some issues with the pump (brass) that they have finally have resolved. This may or may not be of interest to you thought I'd mention it anyway ------------------ 64 Pro-Street Falcon 351C 4V 8.1s in 1/8 79 Ford Bronco 4 X 4 Lifted 6" 400 9.9s in 1/8 :) 70 Plymouth Cuda' 440 Magnum. 2600# Race Car 6.90 in 1/8

Ok, before I go and invest time and money into this Trans. I have a couple more questions.Alex,Kid, With you knowledge of Clevelands does this trans seems to solve the torque converter question.? Also, Can this trans run on the street every once in a while? I know sometimes you can't have it both ways. But right now I am on the fence as to whether I want this to be a full race car or a fast street/show car that likes the track too. I would like to add air conditioning, and a Mustang II IFS to it in the near future.

With a clutch turbo you will have no torque converter issues as you won't have one. You an launch the car as hard as the rest of your drive line can stand. Yes, you can drive one on the street. I did. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
