Having problems getting my 68 Falcon out of the hole, it just doesnt make any power under 4500rpm. Im running 11.9 at 114.5mph with only a mid 1.7 60ft. The transbrake helped a little but not much and I have also tried a 750dp which picked up a couple of hundreths in the 60ft but brought my mph down to 112 and didnt help or hurt my et. I would like to try a different intake than the torker Im running now, anyone have a Strip Dominator they would part with? ------------------ 68 Falcon 351c, 12.4/1, Comp 294s, 4v quench, Torker with 1" open spacer, modified 850dp, 9" 4200rpm converter, transbrake C6, 4.88 9", 29x11.5 slicks, 11.96 @ 114.5mph

A c4 with a 5500 rpm 8" convertor would be the biggest gain. I think the biggest thing holding you back right now is your trans and convertor. But, it is also the most expensive to change at one time. I dont think you will see much improvement with just an intake or carb swap. I would think a 950 HP would work good, I had real good results when I ran one.

Welcome to M & M and the Cleveland world of racing. 4V hell. The idea is to get to high RPMS as fast as possible. A real loose converter is needed. Get a 4 hole 1" or 2" spacer and it will help a little in the short term. Listen to Kid Vishus he has some of the quickest 60ft times I have seen for a Cleveland that runs the times he does. ------------------ 64 Pro-Street Falcon 351C 4V 8.1s in 1/8 79 Ford Bronco 4 X 4 Lifted 6" 400 9.9s in 1/8 :) 70 Plymouth Cuda' 440 Magnum. 2600# Race Car 6.90 in 1/8

well I dont know what your 1/8 mile times would be with that combo. Im trying to get mine out of the hole faster also I have a cleveland with a tunnel ram 2 660"s on it 5000 stall C-6 4.10 gears and 28 tall tire I average 1.73-1.76 60 fts with wht I call bad response or bog ,falling flat ect....I run 7.20"s at 96-98 mphwith 3248 lbsI think tht translates into 11.30's or somthing like that I run 1/8 mile track I myself am getting ready to try 4 hole one spacers under the carb and I swiched to a C-4 since If you find something that works e-mail me at [email protected]

Are your convertors rated at what you say or are they actually stalling that? I had a 4000 stall that actually stalled at about 2000. I just installed a C-4 and a custom built convertor from the local guy here in town and it actually stalls at 4500. My short times with the C-6 and crap convertor were in the 1.9's. I could get 1.72 best and consistant 1.80's with a 4 speed. And the new trans with the custom convetor gets me consistant 1.65's. My combo is 70 Mach 1, 4V quench, flattops, comp cams 292H, excellertor, 750Dp with 2" 4hole, locked out timing, 5.14 gears, and 28" slicks. It now runs 7.69 to low 7.70's @ almost 89 mph in the 1/8. The best it ran before was 8.22 @ 86. I had to put 45 shooters (discharge nosels) in the front and rear to get the hesitaion out of it. My dads windsor only needed 31's. I think the big ports have a lot to do with needing a lot more gas. I would think a tunnel ram would need a lot of gas really fast to keep it from hesitating. Hope this helps someone.

A custom convertor from a good manufacturer will stall at the rpm they claim it will if the buyer supplied good info about the car. If the buyer "fudged" on something when they asked for specs, then more than likely he wont get what he really needed. A company that does not build custom convertors for each application, (ie, one that has a bunch on the shelf and just picks the one closest to what is actually needed) will very rarely get it right. (TCI is the best known offender).
