Lot of the so called octane boosters are normal chemicals you can find at your hardware store such as toulene or xylene.Just becareful what you smell and how you try to smell the chemicals. You can do permanent damage to your throat and lungs. The proper way to smell something, if there really is a proper way, is to open the container, and take your hand and wave it over the top towards your nose.
