The Tennessee brother-in-law recently picked up a 71 Ranchero GT with a tired 429CJ from California. Nice truck, even had a shaker hood, some of you might have seen it at Charlotte. Anyway the 429 doesn't hold oil pressure very good and is in need of a rebuild after 130,000 miles. Just toying with the idea, he listens to me sometimes, besides a 460 crank and pistons, is there any other difference between the two? Would it be worth the price of a crank to convert? He wants a 90% driver and a 10% plaything on the track. I figured if he has to bore it and get new pistons anyway.....topside everything would stay the same, even the butt ugly Rochester Q-jetMike [This message has been edited by kcode (edited 10-21-2002).]
