Sakes alive, talk about PUCKER I made my own stud-mount compressor, took the check valve out of a compression tester hose and put in an inline regulator & gauge, pressurized each cylinder (70 psi) in firing order sequence (at about 15* ATDC) and swapped valvesprings. Took almost 3 hours (my knees and back are killing me ). Is there an easier/more productive method?

Yes there is Todd. LSM Machine makes some very trick valve spring compressors which do not require the used or any type of valve hold. They are expensive and not really cost effective unless you change your springs minimally as often as I do. (every 40 runs) or as often as Pro Stock/Comp teams (every 3-6 passes). Othewise, your method si the most common and widely accepted. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." They have a website. It's either LSM or Logan Smith Machine .com or something. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Ok, cool Thanks Ok, so I followed Comp's recommendation and removed the inner 16 springs for break-in, have been easy on it for almost 500 miles. I just put them back in, thus the spring swap. Alex, you've got mail. Time for some Royal Purple [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 10-20-2002).]
