In 1965 I went to a Ford dealer to inquire about buying a Thunderbolt. They said they couldn't get one and tried to sell me an F100 with a 427. They showed me a brochure that had cutaway drawings of the truck and the suspension. It looked very similar to the T-bolt traction bar in back.As I remember, there were no photos just drawings but it was a printed sales brochure. My question is, did anyone ever build this truck? I do not remember ever seeing one run in person or in a magazine. John

I'm not Alex, i guess he is out farting about. There was at least one F100 drag truck that ran, it had big bold lettering advertising that fact. I'll ask Joel N and the S/S & AFX gang ... they'll have lotsa details.

I have an almost instant reply that shows:[IMG] http://attach4.groups.yahoo.com/v1/gKCwPdBWZ0n9ViyGOzFN_Hza4-nJE1r6gRgXJBDY0C9JdFVCduCnzcW8NclhxkB0zw35JrtNXGqLCTCkbU-WNlQQcKhqyF2NIcfXQw/TRUCK.jpg]http://attach4.groups.yahoo.com/ v1/gKCwPdBWZ0n9ViyGOzFN_Hza4-nJE1r6gRgXJBDY0C9JdFVCduCnzcW8NclhxkB0zw35JrtNXGqLCTCkbU-WNlQQcKhqyF2NIcfXQw/TRUCK.jpg[/IMG] Joel says : Tom, John, That truck was originally a '63 and it ran out of the Stu Wilson dealership around Detroit, then went to Jack Whitby/Friendly Ford in DE as the lettering shows. Whitby later got a T-Bolt by the way. It sure would be something to find one of these brochures you mention. This is the first I heard of them. Attached is a scan of the same truck at the '63 NHRA Nationals running B/FX. Joel RACE CAR ART

You almost had it. You put a in back of the address.

vinyl shminyl ...it's only the 427 that matters! Heres more response about the F100 option.... Tom-- Joel Naprstek has forwarded me some of your e-mail correspondence re: the 427 option in the F-100. The Wilson/Whitby '63 was very real and ran 12.7s at 108 back in the day. Not bad for a 3,825# brick, I'd say. By way of introduction, I'm MayhemBob, the guy in TX with the FE in an '66 SBSS. I spoke with Dennis Kolodziej the other day at the Old Drag Racers Reunion in Panama City, FL, about exactly this. Dennis has the option sheets from Ford's I've been meaning to have him send me. You might ask him to scan and send you a set. Bests, -Bob Bardell- "MayhemBob"

Was there more than one of these made? To think of all the old F100's I've passed over through the years in the junkyards without peaking under the hood!

Tomp has the web addresses of several AFX sites. One for modernized A/FX type cars is a great group of friends of mine.
