Hey Fellas,I'm not sure if I may have damaged my Duraspark distributor when I accidentally connected the 12V wire to the + side of the coil. I know definitely that I damaged the 6AL in doing so. Is there a way to check if the distributor got damaged from that accidental connection. This distributor has a magnetic pickup. Thanks in advance. I would think that Chilton or Hayes manuals that covers the years that the Duraspark was available would have the specs to ohm out the distributor.

Erik,I don't think you damaged the pickup coil in the duraspark. Hook an ohm meter to the two wires and look for some resistance maybe 100-500 ohms or so. If it is 0 ohms it's shorted, if it is 1000meg ohms it's open. Should be somewhere in between. SteveW
