I can't get the plug in the third member out to set it. In the past I've always just added 2 quarts or reused the old stuff. So what would be correct for a brand new rearend that's totally dry? 2 quarts, 2-1/2, 3, or other? Also can I, or do I need to use friction modifier with a detroit locker? The old rearend had friction modifier, but that's because I had run a traction lock at one time.

Mike,5 pints, or 2.5 quarts. No friction modifier needed with a detroit, there aren't any clutches. SteveW

Two quarts max if you have an old style tapered tube (like mine) housing. Those won't hold 2.5. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA/MCA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." While we are on the subject, if the car is race only and has a spool, how thin of oil can you use? That 80W90 seems way to thick to me? Dave
