When I had my motor on the dyno. I was using a Predator carb. The shop owner pulled out his 750 double pumper with mechanical secondarys and my predator carb still made more power 10-15 horse across the rpm range. I later tried my brothers 850 speed demon while the motor was in the car and it blew away my predator carb. I called holley tech support and they suggested I go with a 750 holley HP carb. My question is why would I want to go with the 750HP. My motor already beat one holley 750double pumper and the 850 speed demon is more cfm. I dont see why the 750 Holley HP carb is better then say a 850 Holley double pumper carb. I always thought if a motor can use the extra cfms it will make more power with that carb. Thoughts anyone?

The Holley HP's are nice carbs. I posted earlier in the year about them. I gained about 2 tenths just by going from a 750 double pumper to a 750 HP. If you interested in one let me know, I might be able to get you a good deal.

The HP line of carbs are basically factory prepped race carbs. They are very nice carbs, and dont compre real well to regular carbs (they are that much better). I have one, it is a 950HP, it completey blew away my 750 dp, and my 850 dp. No comparison.

To me, Demon means Barry Grant, and Barry Grant means lousey and arrogant tech support, and terrible quality control.

Many people think the Demon carbs have poor quality control.
The big Demon supporter I know is personal friends with Barry Grant, but he gets good results with them. Maybe he gets "hand picked" carbs

I talked to Demon carbs and they told me the speed demon is good only for cams up to 240 degrees duration. The Mighty Demon is good only for 260 degrees duration. My motor has a 260 and 268 duration cam in it. So the Tech guys suggust I get a Race Demon. Someone explained to me the difference in carbs is how well they can flow and hold that kind of flow for a motor. Where a 3310 750 carb can flow 750cfm it might not be able to maintain that kind of flow like a 750 HP carb can on a race motor. Now all I have to do is decide which one to get. Race demon or Holley HP. I think I am going to go with the HP because everyone seems to like these carbs and I have not heard anything bad about them yet. Thanks for the help guys.
