Here it is on a diet testing some of those new funky "yellow letter" tires.

I noticed the tires don't wad up much on MM. Is that due to higher tire pressure, or because they are smaller slicks than we run, or a little of both?

Every pic we have of KVs car in launch like that shows tires wadded up pretty seriously. It has 14 x 32s with about 7 - 8 lbs. of air.

Just curious.

Combination of very scienced out suspension and air pressure DV. If you look at almost any good running Superstock car regardless of tire size, you will rarely see the tires rolling over themselves.
I have tried to get Rob to keep on raising the tire pressure in his car and it seems to have helped some. A little more suspension tuning will allow even more, which will translate into quicker 60 foots and more consistant launches.

And here is what a well working near stock suspension Fox car looks like with a 1.60 sixty foot time.

Alex,

Who makes those "yellow letter" tires?

What was your testing verdict, did they help ya any?

-- MM looks good in either set of tires!

Thanks Ryan.
The yellow letter tires are brand new prototype Goodyear D-4A pro stock compound Radials.

We were in Pomona last year for the World Finals. Where were you, Todd?!?

We didn't have Moneymaker out there, Alex was a hired gun for a friend. Below is the picture of him making a lap in the California Colt.

Alex,
Has that California Colt been around for a long time? I think I might have an old article from the early-mid 70's about it.

Yes the California Colt has been around since he early 70's. It is still owned by the Williams Bros, but campained by Dick and Greg Dreher. Power comes from a Billy Williams/Hewes Machine 289.
