305 rwhp isn't too bad, this was on a chassis dyno right? But it can be a whole bunch better. More latter, SteveW

Like SteveW said before. Not enough cam, intake is poor for the cubes and way to small a carb. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA/MCA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." OK,Here's my daughter's 408W and it is really fine as a street/show car! The only reason it isn't on the street more is the spool in the rear and its appetite for 100+ octane fuel. Rods - Eagle 6.250 4350 H-beam Crank - Eagle 4340 forged knife edged SRP pistons (flat tops) Speed pro plasma moly rings Cloyes DR chain Comp Solid roller cam 35-772-8 286/292 248/254 @ .050 .610/621 lift lsa 110, c/l 106, installed at 105, overlap 69 degrees @ .015" Heads - Edel Vic Jr's 2.05/1.60 valves C/R is 12-1 Rockers - Harland Sharp alum rollers Springs - 195#s closed 350+ @ .600 Intake - Vic Jr. ported to heads Fully balanced Milodon pan & p/u MSD billet Distributor Race c-4 w/ 9" converter 4200 stall spooled 9" rear 10" MT et drag slicks 4.5" MT et drag fronts 3100#s track weight We can/will pump this up this winter with a stouter cam and porting the heads. It doesn't run too bad as is and will win 99% of the street races you might come across (especially the tubed out BBC Camaros) Your heads are better, but the intake, carb, cam and possibly the headers/exhaust need help. Use 3" pipes to the 3" race muff of your choice. We're running 1 chamber Flowmasters and turn downs. Good luck! SteveW

More cam, and a solid roller! Forget the AirGap! With a 3500-4000 stall converter you don't have to worry about the bottom end torque! It won't try until it's in the torque range and it'll run like a "raped ape" Just hold on 'cause you're going for a "bad assed" ride. Get a good tranny cooler and don't worry about the tranny temp! In a recent 5.oooh magazine the Air Gap lost about 7 flywheel HP to a Victor Jr (on a 393 stroker). The air gap made quite a bit more midrange HP. I believe you could pull 10 or 11 inches of vacuum with the XE282 cam. I bet you could pick up a few ponies by more tuning though. I personally hate loose converters on the street BTW.....
