I swapped a great running B303 cam for an X cam.

Combo-

1987 5.0L HO shortblock (stock + windage tray)
10.0:1 compression (cc'd it myself, so its not a guess)
Ported E7TE heads with GT40 valves & springs
Weiand Stealth Intake
Holley 650 double pumper
1.7:1 Crane roller rockers
Duraspark dist

I ran a 13.06@106 with the B cam. It was a near perfect combination (106 is pretty high). But I wanted more. I swapped in an X cam, but had some other problems with my car before I got it tuned right. Nevertheless the baseline runs I got were unimpressive. ~13.4@101. I'm sure it can go faster, but not so sure if it will be faster than the B cam. It also idles really choppy and has horrible gas mileage now (of course, if it were faster I wouldn't care ). I got about 19 mpg with the B cam on the interstate, and 13 around town. X cam gave me about 9 city.

I will be trying some 1.6:1 rockers when I get the car running again, I think my .576 lift is too much. If that doesn';t work, I'll be putting the B back in.

I've heard that from others too, the B303 is pretty meager but works. My engine is internally stock 87 5.0L with that B303 and a Performer RPM and 84 Mustang Holley 4V. So far it seems fastest shifting about 5500 and ran 12.87 @104 today. I'm almost afraid to change cams after hearing others experiences.

We sold a few of them and recieved negative feedback every time.
I did not recomend them for the applications they were used on.
