Jerry sent me some pics of the progress that he has been making at putting his '69 Stang back together after the crash he had last January:

You're doing a great job, Jerry!

Thanks guys! Hopefully I will be finished in a few weeks or Months who knows? Anyway the sooner the better. If any of you have any suggestions feel free to correct me. I hate going back later to fix something that was obvious to someone else! Thanks for all the remarks

It looks good Jerry.

How bad was it tore up?

It's better to take your time and make sure it is fixed right, then give it a rush job and find out the hard way you goofed something up by being in a hurry. (Like some of the motors I have put together )

Kid,
The front cap was destroyed, right front wheel, tie rod & spindle on the right, Right front frame and forward roll bar was bent, radiator shot, both headers, & brakes gone. I cut it off at the rear crossmember, pulled the floors and firewall out and welded in a new front clip w/ new forward support bars, lengthened the frame two inches, bought a new front cap ( you can barely see the bottom of it in one of the pics ) and started over basically. Hopefully I won't run into any more guard rails crossing the finish line

Jerry, what caused it to hit the guard rail?

Buster, It was a combo of several things, and it crossed lanes way out in front of a vega then went thru the guard rail and hit a 55 Gal drum and took out 40 ft of chain link fence. Thank god it was way past the spectator area. I hit a place in the track ( small dip ) about 50 ft from the finish line. The back springs too stiff, car bobbled, rear faded towards my side, not enough caster in the stock Mustang 2 set up and she crossed to the other lane. I took out the finish line lights. I just didn't have enough track to straighten her up. I layed heavy on the brakes, she went through the guard rail, cleared the ground, landed on a 55 gal trash drum and went through 40 ft of chain link fence. It stopped about 75ft in a field. Just like Monster truck on TV. It was a handful. My buddies watching said I was driving My A$$ off to keep it from rolling. I was sore for a week, but I was wearing all my gear so No major damage. What caused it? Poor track, Stiff rear coil overs, not enough caster. I did get a 60 ft time from it and it was on a tear. 1.25 60 ft. I dunno the pass felt good, like a 5.50 or so, or I would like to think so anyway. I didn't have time to think just react. Guys if your not wearing your safety gear then you should, you never know.
