If that's the deal, when the time comes to tear down I just might throw away a set of forged rods and forged pistons and start over

My machinist installs my rings and spiral locks for $3 a piston. Is that too much?

Actually the Spirolocks are not that bad after some practice. STRETCH those puppies out like a spring, stuff one end in the grove and SPIRAL the lock down the grove. When you stretc them out the take on a smaller diameter. ------------------ Jay Kilroy 68' Fastback GT 390 "No such thing as a cam thats too big"

Been messing with them forever and a day and there just is no art to taking them out. Yeah, putting them in is alot easier the way Jay says though.------------------ Mike Harris MKZ Racing home.isoa.net/~mharrisj

I found this from the Ross piston web site.... Ross: "Everyone likes double Spirolox for piston pin retention because they work so well but "no one wants to take the damn things out!". All ROSS custom pistons are available with Lock Removal Indents at no extra charge. They make lock removal a snap! Just insert a small screwdriver behind the locks and snap them out. "
