I just read an old article that boldly stated that you can pick up an easy 35 HP on your 2 brl Cleveland just by adding a stock 4 brl intake, even with the mismatch. Is this true?... and if so.. Are Clevelands starving for more cfm that bad??

I've read of similar results with the 429 stock heads/Cobra Jet intake.

I have heard that too, but have never tried it. I do know, that with the motors I have built, from mild to wild, they all seem to respond real well to more cfm.

I had a 70 Cougar with a 351C 2v and put a cast iron 4 barrel intake on and a 780 VS Holley. Man that car woke up. I also put a double roller chain on advanced 2 degrees, and dual exhaust. So the combination worked for that car, 2nd gear chearps, hazed them off on the line, and when I was driving normal, I got better gas milage then wioth the 2 barrel. To bad it was only a parts car, or Id still be driving it, sold the motor to a friend for his rustang. If you can find a chaper intake, not worth doing it anymore, the 4 barrel 2V intakes out know adays are worth abit more, and dont have the air turbulence caused by the port mismatch. But they do need a big carb, 780 VS for auto, or double pumper for stick.

This subject comes at the right time. i am trying to help a friend make his '73 Ranchero a little better with a few performance mods. I bid on this manifold intake combo for him today and as of right new I am the high bidder.

Tanke a look and see what you think for a street driven ranchero.
