I'm thinking of switching from a C6 to a C4 tranny and was wondering whats involved? Is the C4 shorter? Do I need a new drive shaft,U joints, starter, flywheel? Also how well do C4's hold up? My car has run a best of 12.20. Do I need a new shifter? Sorry about all the questions,I would rather know now than in the middle of a swap. My other option is to stick with the C6. I installed a transpak kit last week and now it seems to slip between shifts! I removed the valve body and did exactly what B&M said to do!

The c4 is shorter, and requires a longer driveshaft, the slip yoke is also different, and it takes a different crossmember. The shifter will work for either trans. The starter should also be the same. I have always used the same flexplate, but I think there is a difference in them. (and I'm not talking about the 164 tooh and 157 tooth flexplates) I have a 164 tooth flexplate that I have used several times for both transmissions.

A GOOD C-4 will go 400+ runs behind 400 HP with routine maintanance before it needs a freshen up. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

I bought the C4 tranny so I will finally be able to find out how much power I will be able to reclaim. Apparently it was built buy a company called lentech?I will install it in the next few weeks and will let everyone know. Should I buy a brand new driveshaft or do you know of any good donor cars for a 70 mustang?

Almost any 65-73 Mustang with a C-4 or stick will fit, or better yet, some Aerostars have the right length all aluminum shafts that will work. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl
