Does anybody know if the Strange S/S 31 spline "street" axles are acceptable for NHRA 10.99 and faster usage?I need 31 spline axles that are acceptable for NHRA usage and these axles seem very competitive price wise. I'm just not sure if the "street" label on them means they are not as strong as some other styles. Is there some other 31 spline axles I should be looking at or are these good axles?

They are as good or better a 31 spline axle available. Not many serious racers use axles with less than 33 splines, that is why they call the 31's the S&S brand. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

Thanks Alex that's very helpful. I'm not what you'd call a serious racer, but I do wonder if I should go with something like a 35 spline though. Only trouble is I have about 3 third members fully set-up with 31 splines and a couple are detroit lockers. I'm pretty well limited to about a 10" wide tire, but my car is extremely heavy (about 4000 lbs.) and has a 4 speed tranny. I haven't had any problems with the stock 31 spline axles so far. I wonder if the Strange 31 spline axles will be much more durable than stock. If Alex or anybody else has recommendations, I'd be glad to hear them. Thanks.

I'm running the SS Street axles, 31 spline on my '68. When I purchased the axles, the guy at strange recommended I go with the SS Streets because their racing axles were not built to take the wind-up of going around corners for street driving. (they are more brittle than the SS Streets). Also, I'm almost positive the SS Streets are available in larger splines, too. And yes, they are accepted by NHRA as 10.99 or quicker.------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??
