Here is today`s update , had a very small split in my by-pass hose , so the system would not pressurize. Changed it , then , diconected the heater hose from the intake manifold , ran the hose into the rad , kept it going until clean , clear water ran from the heater hose. Re-attached the heater hose , drained the system , re-filled with anti freeze and water , did it very slowly so I would not get another air lock. Changed my stock 4 blade 1965 289 factory fan , to a , 17 inch 6 blade flex fan. Seems to have done the trick for the most part. Still gets a bit warm at idle at a light , but , does not go out of the normal operating range , just gets up to the high end of it, as soon as I get moving the temp comes down to normal. The motor was taken out 60 over, mild build with a , 268h cam , holley 600 carb , 180 thermostat , I only have approx 290 miles on it at this time , so is it safe to assume that it will run in the higher end of the temp range until I get a few more miles on it ? Please give me any suggestions or input that you can.
