Doesn't the DIVE identification on the block tell me its a 1971 block? I'm looking for a starter. Compression is about 11.8:1. Also, the one I took off had a solinoid on it and there is also one on the fire wall. "That doesnt seem right"????It's in my 66 Fairlane. Thanks, J.

Yes it is a 1971 engineering number. All 460/429 385 series used dual solenoids. 11.8 to one compression??? ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

Thanks Alex, I bought the car from a guy who did the conversion. The car body and interior is in great shape. Not sure if the motor was built correct or not. supposively it has Aries pistons. It almost sounds like a diesel when running. I was told that the have short skirts which would cause the noise??"maybe to much clearance? It's kind of annoying! Also it was an origanal 4speed car and they put a C-6 in. It still has the pedal assembly in it. Picked it up for 3k. What starter would be good for my application? Thanks, J
