I'm building a new aluminum fuel tank for my comet and have a couple of questions. How big of fitting should I weld in for fuel outlet.I figured on using a 3/4" pipe fitting and setting down to what ever later. Should I put a 3/4" pipe in the tank for a pickup with a cup on the end to catch the gas as the car launches or just rely on the gas flowing out of the 3/4" pipe scully fitting. Roger, get one of the sump kits available and weld it on the rear bottom of the tank. They already have the fittings welded in. They come with two, but you can use only one of them if you prefer. We use both with #10 hose into a tee to the pump. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link

Roger, Just put the fitting at the back side of the tank so when the gas surges back it pressurizes the line. No need for anything fancy. Dave

You can get bulkhead type fitting with the nylon washers and install them to hook AN fitting to the tank. Cut a portion of the fitting off, taper/round the cut side for smooth flow. No welding, just cutting of a hole. This is similar to the fittings used in the JAZ fuel cells.Aeroquip steel fitting is 2041-8-8S for #8 hose or 2041-10-10S for #10 hose.....or aluminum (summit part numbers) AER-FCM2073 for #8, nut is AER-FCM2103 and #10 is AER-FCN2074, nut is AER-FCM2104 [This message has been edited by Just Strokin (edited 05-03-2002).]
