I'd like to know what some other guys running BBF's are using for primary tube size. I called Judy Stahl of Stahl headers for a weld up kit and she told me the ( ruined in wreck ) last headers I was running were too small for 514 cubic inches. I was running 2 1/8th primaries into 4 in. collectors. She says use at least 2 1/4 primaries with 4 to 4 1/2 collectors. Any opinions? Thanks! Jerry

I have to agree, I run a 2 1/8" primary into a 4" collector with 4" exhaust system (Flowmasters). My heads have a SCJ exhaust port. Forget to add that my engine is 466 cubic inches.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 2 1/4" unless you run it past 7,500.

Jerry, Could you email me with the contact information for Stahl headers? I am pretty sure that nobody makes a set of 2 1/4 tubes to put a BBF into a 68 fastback. I will probably have to do the work myself. What exactly is in their 'weld up kit'? Is the flanges and a bunch of bends?

It all depends on the intake and exhaust port flow, and the maximum RPM. 2 1/4 would be the MAXIMUM I think. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 US Class Nationals link
