For those of you in the area I went out to the new track they are building in Lagrange GA. It is a 1/8 mile all concrete track. I was hoping it was going to be a 1/4 mile track but oh well it is looking pretty nice. All the concrete is poured and they are working on paving the return road. I'll be curious to see how they do the pits. If anyone wants directions let me know.

The gentleman I spoke with said they hoped to have it up and running by the first of May. I kinda doubt they will, lot of work left. That's about all I have other than directions. I'll ride out there again in a week or two and see how they are coming and update this post.

They are calling it Lagrange Troup County Speedway. Here are the directions if you are coming from Columbus heading North on 185.

Take Exit 34(Pine Mountain Exit) go left over overpass, go to 4-way stop turn right on 219.
Go about 10 miles when road widens take a left on Hutchinson Mill Road(Truck rental across the street on the right).
Take 1st road on the right after about 7 miles, Cannon Mill Road.
Take 1st left about 1-2 miles, Hogg Mountain Road.
Then 1st road on right, Heard Road.
Just stay on that road, it turns into a dirt road and you will run right into it. It's only about a half a mile.

You got all that.

Too bad about it being an 1/8 miler. To me, that's like premature ejac.... well, nevermind.

Went out there yesterday and took a look at the progress. They are in the process of paving the return road, putting up the guardrail and installing the timing system. The man I talked to said they want to open on May 11th.

The only problem I see right now is the sharp left hand turn from the staging area to the burnout area. Other than that it looks pretty good. They said they have been working with the IHRA to make sure the track is legal to IHRA standards. The track is 1% downhill and within spec. Should be a fast track.

Later!
