I need some info about the offenhauser tunnelram intake for a 351c, i found one 4 sale and it has 2 different style setups for the top, a 2x4 barrel setup and a single 4 barrel setup, has anyone in here ever used this intake on a 351c?

Does anyone know what the going price would be for this intake?

I also understand they made a top for this intake that would let you run a single dominator carb, does anyone know where i could find the single dominator top for the offy tunnelram intake?

thanks
kelly

Kelly, Hi, though tunnel rams are very versatile, as you're finding out, they do present some minor problems. First off, almost every one I've seen over the years has been modified for distributor clearance. I recently bought an unmolested Edelbrock UR-19 for my son-in-law's 351C that has the dual Dominator top. His Msd billet distributor hits the plenum by about 1/2". We have the choices of finding a very short and small distributor, cutting and welding the plenum, an offset distributor or a D.I.S. According to most of the racer input I've seen , the single carb set-ups on tunnel rams aren't particularly effective at producing serious horsepower, however they look great. Used to see some on jet boats. I bought ours for $110, but looked long and hard B4 finding one. I considered the price to cheap to pass up whether I needed it or not! Extra lid will jack price. I run a wieand Tunnel Ram on my 514, I used a mallory unilte wired to a MSD box. Also I know a guy who custom makes some offset distributors, MSD refered me to him. He has one of my MSD'd there now. The reason I run a tunnel ram is for the enderle hat injection, otherwise I would run a single plane hi rise. If you need the guy's email addy send me an email and I'll send it to you

Well i did buy the offy tunnelram intake, i think i got it for a fair price $150 w/2 tops 2x4 and single 4 barrel, the single 4 barrel
looks like it would be for looks, i bought 1 brand new 660 cfm carb last night for it off of ebay for $210 w/center squirters, now i'm on the lookout for another one... i checked jegs and they want $445 for one, i talked with a guy today and he asked me if they mounted inline or sideways, i checked and they look like they only go on inline, he said they work better with them mounted sideways, is there an adapter to make them fit sideways, he has the throttle linkage for me if i can fit the sideways, and i do have a brand new MSD dist which will need to be fixed before i can run again, if there's any stuff i should lookout for feel free to let me know about the pro's and con's of keeping the carbs in tune.

thanks guy's

The inline carbs are generally model 4160's when using holleys as there isn't usually enuff room to mount the 4150's (with rear metering blocks) inline.

Therefore most racers running the non-dominator carbs on a tunnel ram intake, like the ability to change jets in front and back of the carbs. The 4160 model carb has metering plates in the rear and no jets per se. To change the size of the fuel metering holes, you have to change the plate.

As to running better sidways? No difference most times in most applications verse inline mounting. With the qualification of, as long as the carbs are mod'd to run in that mounting direction.
