I seem to remember an article in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords last year where they took a Ford Racing 393 crate motor and swapped on a pair of box-stock AFR 185s in place of the GT-40X heads, and pulled 500+ hp at the crank, and got even more with a cam swap and Demon carb. I would say that yes, 500 is doable with the 185s, given the right bottom end, cam, intake and carb.------------------ Cheers, Ian M&M Member #395 ------------------- '79 Mustang Indy 500 Pace Car Ian's Pace Car Website Vancouver Island Mustang Association Website Indy Pace Car Registry of Mustangs Official Website "If you get to thinking you are someone of some importance and influence, just try ordering another persons dog around." - Author Unknown

I still like Edelbrock's heads. The rpm's for 400+ The Victor Jr's for 500+ Ported Vic Jr's for 600 All the above use standard headers, ports raised a whole 1/8" for the Vic Jrs. And Victors for racing..... OK call me "old fashioned" SteveW

I think my combination of 10.5:1 393W with AFR 185's, Victor Jr, 850DP, 1 3/4 headers and a special order Comp tight lash solid lift cam is is somewhere around 500hp. I'm getting almost 98 mph in the 1/8 mile. I've been working mainly on the suspension right now and haven't really tuned on the motor any as far as jetting and timing so I'm sure there's a little more left in it. I think I'm also in some need of more gear. Have 4.11 now want to add some 4.56's as funds allow.------------------ James 67 Coupe 393W, AFR 185, 4 Speed, 4.11 9 inch 7.09 @ 97MPH 1/8 1.55 60'
