Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement distributor for my 390? I want an electronic, mechanical advance dist (can't use vacuum adv with the Proform body). I put a timing light on the engine today and it jumps around at idle (could be from the cam lope) and feels like it has a lean misfire when revving without a load. It pulls hard all the way to redline, but with the initial set at 12 deg, it maxes out at 32 deg total. The distributor now is a stock CJ with a Pertronix II. Rebuild or new?
Ideas?

I have a 9000 unilite in my Falcon and an MSD in my Cuda. I like them both. But for the money the MSD is an easier dist to work on especially if you start changing advance curves and such. If you go with either of them get a MSD 6 or 6AL ignition to go with them. You will be able to feel a power increase.

As far as you stock dist. Few years ago I had a similar problem in my Bronco. I pulled the dist and found that the shaft was bent slightly and had a slight wobble near the contacts when I turned it. I replaced it with one I had from another motor (with no visible wobble) and it fixed the problem.
