The 69 is going to pressed into daily driver duty for a couple months (I know, I know...) until I get something else. I'm expecting atrocious gas mileage, but the carb will help. Any guesses on how bad it'll really be?

351C 4V quench heads, 10.8:1. Edelbrock torker intake, holley 770 street avenger carb, comp cams solid - 282/288 244/252 .590/.600 108LSA.

This is in a 69 coupe with a 4sp and 3.00 gears (yuck - very, very temporary).

I'm thinking the cam and heads will kill the mileage, but the carb and gears will help.
I'm trying to calculate how much I really will be spending on gas every week. So, what's the verdict?? Any predictions? Thanks!

I agree with Steve 8-10. That tall gear will help you on the hwy, but will make it worse in town.

I was thinking 8-9, so I guess I was right on par. What can I expect when I get my 4.11s? I'm thinking 7-8.

In wvcat I get 12 mpg with a 357w dart sr's and a big cam but I also have an AOD. I'm running 3:73's with 275/60/15's too. I think you will end up in the same neighborhood.

I got about 10-11 on the old combination - same basic idea, but no work on the heads and a mild hydraulic cam. I do have a bit of a lead foot of course -- why else would I build an engine like this to begin with?

I used to get 18 highway with my '71 Mach with 351C-4V 10.5:1, Motorsport 214/224-.510/.536 hydraulic, and 3.00 gears, 4 speed. Switched to 3.70's, got 12-13, 3.91's, got 10...maybe. May mess with a T-5 on my next round of mods......

the lead foot will get you poor mileage in any car.

The lower gears won't hurt that much if the engine is running at very little throttle opening.
